Ken ‘The Old Chippy’ Burden won the Dad’s Army competition this week. Photo: Joe McDonough. It was a close contest in last Saturday’s On Trend Clothing Guzzlers Mug competition with a three way count back being held to decide this month’s guzzler, and it was Mike Greep who came out on top, from Joe Cooke and Steve Curtis with their 67 nets. Joe Cooke did however pick up the A-grade prize and the putting competition prize. Mike Greep got the B-grade and Dennis Morgan picked up the C-grade with his 69 net. Congratulations to Mike who has been a long time member at the Yass Golf Club, and resides in the ACT. The Aussie Hotel nearest the pins went to Jamie Roche with some spectacular shots into the eighth and 16th holes, and was unlucky not to jag a hole in one on both.
In Sunday’s stableford competition, Don Douglas came back for a second go at getting a prize for the weekend after getting a couple of shots within reach of the guzzlers, and he managed to pick up the Sunday money with his 38 points.
On Sunday at the Fairbairn Golf Club the ACT Monaro Sureshot Golf NSW Four Ball Best Ball Regional Final was held, with three local pairs trying to advance into the final at Bonville Golf Resort in Coffs Harbour. ‘Nearest the Pin King’ from Saturday, Jamie Roche paired up well with Nev Matthews, coming in with 43 points and they were just shy of a point on getting into the count back, that decided the eventual winners. Charlie McDonald and Scott Nolan from Tully Park won it with 44 points. Mitch Grange and Adam Danilczak came in with 41 points and Wayne Wilson and Scott Medway had 37 points.
This Saturday we have the pleasure of holding the Yass Windscreens and Glass, four-person stabrose event, which is a modified ambrose and stableford event, and is always interesting. So players get your groups together an we’ll see you on the course, in what the weatherman says is going to be a balmy 14 degrees.
