Lions had a productive month

PORT Pirie Lions had a very productive month in July.

There were two sausage sizzles at Cheap as Chips and the market on July 12.

A visit by the Community Accommodation and Respite Agency children proved once again to a huge success with Lions members catering for a barbecue lunch for 27 carers and 17 clients.

The barbecue was held at the Port Football Club which has generously donated its clubrooms for this event for the past 13 years.

The group takes the clients for a period of time and care for them to give their parents respite.

The group stayed at the Will- ochra camp for several days before coming to Port Pirie.

After the barbecue the clients visited sites in our town. Most of the carers were Year 11 and 12 students from Gawler.

The next part of the trip was to visit the Gladstone Goal for an afternoon excursion.

The carers and clients travelled on two small buses and one big one.

Many thanks must go to Roma Sampson for providing the music for this occasion at short notice.

This is the club’s birthday month and members will celebrate with a dinner at the Mid North Christian College on Tuesday, August 19.

Events for August are the Cheap As Chips barbecue on the 9th, the Huey Helicopter barbecue on the 16th, the Hammill House barbecue on the 20th and the Fly-In on the 23rd and 24th.
