AFTER months of many shows and recitals, the 2014 Muswellbrook & Upper Hunter Eisteddfod is set to end on a high note this weekend.
The 23rd edition of the event will conclude with the Annual Gala Concert at St James’ Primary School, Muswellbrook, on Sunday from 2pm.
Eisteddfod treasurer Sally Jackson said the committee had, once again, enjoyed an exciting and fulfilling year.
“We’ve hosted more than 2800 performances in the areas of dance, piano, instrumental, vocal, bands, choirs, speech, public speaking and drama,” she told the Chronicle.
“We even had a record number of entries in the creative writing section.
“Our participants came from all over the Hunter Valley and beyond.
“We have a lot to celebrate – and some of the best performers will take to the stage this weekend.
“Afternoon tea will be served following the performances.
“The Annual Gala Concert also gives us the opportunity to thank our sponsors for their generous support; as well as present you the talent, which you are supporting in the community.
“The committee would like to acknowledge all the participants of the 23rd eisteddfod.”
The popular event is already on the front foot in 2015.
Muswellbrook Marketplace Shopping Centre will be the new and major sponsor of the Muswellbrook & Upper Hunter Eisteddfod for the next two years.
“We’ve been investigating various opportunities of being involved with the local community,” centre manager Eric Leslie said.
“This association with Muswellbrook & Upper Hunter Eisteddfod is what we see as a positive step forward.
“Hopefully, we’ll be helping the youth and many talented children of the greater area of Muswellbrook.
“That demographic is in great need of assistance to expand their many talents through dance, vocal, speech, drama, singing, public speaking and combined school choirs and bands.
“We trust that our partnership with the Muswellbrook & Upper Hunter Eisteddfod will be beneficial to the youth and the parents of this wonderful regional area of Muswellbrook.
“I’ll be at the Annual Gala Concert this Sunday to present the first donation to the Muswellbrook & Upper Hunter Eisteddfod.”
MANY TALENTS: Indyana and Ebony Taylor are among the musicians taking part in Sunday’s Annual Gala Concert.
